The Abyssal Aquarium
From light down into the dark depths...
Standing at 11 metres high, it is the deepest aquarium in Europe, but over and above its surprising size, it is firstly a wonderfully colourful hub of life. This water column contains over 1,000 tropical fish commonly found on a Tahitian atoll.
You can also wonder around the other 16 themed tanks that will amaze you with their cowfish so easily recognizable by their horns!
The Nason fish and its rostrum….damselfly, squirrel and surgeon fish are also swimming around along with just as many unknown species that you can easily identify thanks to the panels on your way round giving you clear and simple information.
Your visit will then take you down into the depths at the foot of the coral shelf under 350 cubic metres of water; fish living here in this sombre atmosphere are more difficult to find.
Before letting yourself be swallowed up by the overwhelming abyss, take a last look at these examples of an unbelievable life from below.
