La Cit� de la Mer celebrate the 10th anniversary of Le Redoutable's arrival - La Cit� de la Mer

4^thJuly 2000: the first French-built ballistic missile submarine Le Redoutable leaves the naval dockyard to start its new career at La Cit� de la Mer. Numerous onlookers line the quay to watch this exceptional transfer; an event that will remain in all our memories. 10 years later, almost 2 million visitors have walked down its alleyways thanks to the Commander�s audio-guided visit. Le Redoutable submarine remains to this day the part of La Cit� de la Mer which must not be missed!

From 19^thJune on, La Cit� de la Mer will open an outside exhibition in its northern garden with big visuals allowing visitors to relive the transfer of this giant of the seas and its installation in the dock created especially for it. A brand new video will be shown in the conference hall and the public will have the chance to meet the submariners of yesterday and today: members of the Ex-submariners Association (AGAASM) and submariners still on board their submarines today (Wednesdays and weekends only from 19^th June to 4^th July).

La Cit� de la Mer has decided to offer an exceptional prize to the lucky person who chooses the right time to come and visit us! This fortunate visitor will win an exceptional VIP visit for himself and his group. The prize also includes a gift hamper and a weekend trip for two on one of the Channel Islands!

And to celebrate the event, La Cit� de la Mer has organised a game that everyone can take part in (no purchase necessary) this summer! You can fill in an entry form to participate in our prize draw and leave it in our special urn in the Welcome Hall. The draw will take place in September with a weekend for two on one of the Channel Islands as well as lots of other prizes to be won.

La Cit� de la Mer, one of Normandy�s most popular attractions, will soon welcome its 2,000,000^thvisitor! Annual admissions are four years ahead of the forecasts made before the site opened as the 2,000,000^th visitor was not expected until 2014! A success that no longer needs to be proved and which can be explained by the hard work of the dynamic teams at La Cit� de la Mer, a site which has constantly strived to reinvent itself since opening in 2002.

Children can come and have a very bouncy adventure on inflatables set up around the site. They will also have great fun making giant constructions with the enormous Lego blocks! From 2 years up (from 10^th July to 22^nd August).

An ocean quiz in the Media library will fascinate our younger visitors. By successfully completing our questions, they will have the chance to win an �Ocean citizen� passport personalized by La Cit� de la Mer and sponsored by Fran�ois Sarano!

Two exhibitions on sharks in the Media library are open to curious visitors thirsty for knowledge on the largest marine predator�. �From the megalodon to the dogfish � sharks around our coasts� and �Passion for sharks� will reveal all the secrets surrounding this legendary animal. A 4 metre-high model of a Thresher shark will also be on show to welcome visitors! Free entry.

OCEANS, THE EXHIBITION - La Cit� de la Mer

Following the opening of the film �ΩCEANS�, La Cit� de la Mer offers you a new event with the chance to visit

�ΩCEANS, THE EXHIBITION� in the Great Hall of the Transatlantic Ferry Terminal, location for one of the film�s fiction scenes.

Created by La Cit� de la Mer and Galat�e Films, this exhibition reflects the passion uniting the two teams: that of the underwater world. By reaching out to our emotional side, the exhibition also highlights the efforts made to participate in the protection of the oceans by making the general public more aware of the issues surrounding them. The visitor will be plunged into the heart of this film which will have an effect on everyone, with the discovery of exceptional submarine images from around the world, original cinematographics and in particular, a zoom in on the gallery of extinct species ... not to be missed.

"The hidden side of our oceans": as well as new decors and species to discover (stonefish, knightfish, tropical spiny lobster, Spanish lobster and more) you will be given a completely new vision of marine life. For the first time ever, educational mini-films will allow visitors to witness what we rarely have a chance to see, such as the nocturnal behaviour of certain species.

The "CompliCit� PASS": big changes have been made to the new PASS for La Cit� de la Mer. It now offers not only an unbeatable price but also new advantages for holders, valid for a one-year period: unlimited access to the site, reductions in the shop and restaurant, free entry into temporary exhibitions, a 2� reduction for all accompanying visitors, reduced entrance prices for fairs and trade shows.

Globule leaves for Barcelona ! - La Cit� de la Mer

From November 23rd to May 30th 2010, Barcelona�s Maritime museum will present "Immersi�. La conquesta del fons del mar" (Immersion. Conquering the depths of the sea) as part of its year-long celebration of Monturiol which coincides with the 150^th anniversary of the submarine Ictineo 1, designed by Monturiol and launched from the port of Barcelona. Globule will be presented in the museum as an example of the history of civil submarines.
