Discover the Redoutable, the first French nuclear ballistic missile submarine and jewel of the French Navy! Launch in 1971, you can see this 128-meter giant at La Cité de la Mer in Cherbourg. Immerse yourself in the daily life of the crew members with a 35-minute audio tour (from 5 years old).
The Redoutable is the largest submarine that you can visit all over the world. The tour is devoted to the daily life of submariners, offering visitors a unique experience on board as if the crew had just left the boat.

A tour aboard the Redoutable is a unique immersive experience. Explore the different sections of the submarine: the engine room, the operations navigation control room and the crew quarters.
Two different types of 35-minute audio-guides for your visit:
The first audioguide is mostly dedicated to an adult or advised audience who wants to understand in detail how this mythic submersible works. You’ll be led by the Pacha also known as the captain.
The second one is more pedagogical and provides a dialogue between a former submariner and his grandson whom goal is to perpetuate the family tradition. Its is more recommended for young people and families, so they can share an educational experience. This tour offers an insight into the history and daily life of the crew, while honoring this emblem of naval engineering built in Cherbourg in the 1960s.

You can go on your tour with a special “family” audio guide! Go round the submarine with Charles, an ex-submariner, and Nathan, his grandson!
Children under five years old are not allowed inside Le Redoutable. Two adults may take it in turns to visit the submarine, while the children play around aquariums.
